Meet Bronco! Bronco came to us from Manitoba where he and other pups were rescued from the wildfires. Bronco is full of life, love and all the silliness that comes with being a puppy. He is thriving in his foster home and can’t wait to find his forever family!
Bronco is described by his fosters as clever, silly, affectionate and playful. There has not been one activity, toy or treat he doesn’t love. In true puppy fashion Bronco is very busy and very chatty. He does not shy away from telling you when he wants something, or even just howling along with sirens that go by in the distance. Bronco has mastered the art of puppy eyes and has the best floppy ears, that are still not sure if they want to stand up or not.
Bronco has made himself at home quickly with his foster family. He likes to be near his foster humans, but also seems quite confident in having his own space. With both people he knows, and strangers, Bronco is friendly, affectionate and playful. He does alert bark and will take a moment to sniff, but he seems to love everyone he has met so far. Bronco lives with children aged 8-17 and treats them all the same as the adults. He will seek them out to play, cuddle and listen. Bronco has also had the chance to meet a toddler and he was polite and gave some gentle kisses. With proper introductions and supervision we think he would do well in a home with respectful, dog savvy children.
As Bronco is young and adaptable he would likely do well in any living environment. That being said, he is a busy guy and loves to run and play. A house with a yard would be great for his personality, but if provided with adequate exercise and access to greenspace he would be ok. A family that likes to explore and is active would be a great match. Bronco has shown no signs of fear with loud noises, city sounds or vehicles yet.
Bronco absolutely loves other dogs. He seeks out his foster siblings to play often and is still learning their signals for when they are not up to playing with him. He does not shy away from being vocal with them either! Bronco has met some other dogs as well, both small and large, and was polite and gentle. He would do well in a home with another canine companion, but could also be a solo dog as long as he was given lots of socialization time. Bronco also lives with a cat and did well after proper introductions.
As a young pup, Bronco is very active. He loves to explore the yard, play with toys, and is learning his leash manners. He currently gets 2 or 3 short walks per day as well as time outside and lots of time indoors with toys. He really enjoys stuffies, playing fetch and solving puzzles for kibble. Bronco is teething and wants to be chewing almost always when he is not sleeping. He is still learning what is ok and not ok to chew. Supervision and lots of options of chew toys are important in his stage of life.
Bronco is very clever and very food motivated so beginning his basic training is lots of fun! He is working on his recall, sit, don’t touch and drop it, and is making great progress - especially as he sits at your feet with his curious puppy eyes waiting for a treat. Bronco sleeps in his crate overnight and if he is home alone, and settles almost immediately. He is also working on his potty training. He will sometimes let you know he needs to go out in the house, and if he is in his crate he will alert you with no hesitation. Bronco’s new family will need to be patient and prepared to continue his basic training.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Bronco’s new family will be required to:
-Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
-Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
-Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage.
-Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
