Meet Sequoia!
Sequoia is a sweet, silly, and smart young pup who’s as snuggly as she is spirited. At about 15 lbs and growing quickly, this playful little girl is a classic Velcro puppy—she loves being near her people and will follow you from room to room, just to keep you company (and maybe share a few opinions along the way!).
Sequoia is a toy enthusiast—she’ll grab as many as she can carry—and absolutely loves romping in the yard, wrestling with her foster sisters, and finding the perfect plush to chew. She’s expressive, social, and already using her voice to “talk” when she has something to say. Whether she’s flopping over for belly rubs or zooming around the lawn, Sequoia brings pure joy to everything she does.
She’s brave and adaptable, especially for a young puppy. So far, she’s taken everything in stride—including loud noises, fireworks, hats, and strangers. Loud sounds may startle her briefly, but she simply takes a step back and watches calmly. She has a confident, curious nature and hasn’t shown fear in any situation yet.
Sequoia is super friendly with people she knows and those she’s just met. She often flops over to ask for belly rubs and doesn’t want to miss an opportunity for attention. Based on her personality, she would likely do well with respectful, dog-savvy children, though supervision with young kids is important—she’s still quite mouthy and may accidentally scratch or nip during play.
Her ideal home would be a house or townhouse with a yard, or with people committed to taking her outside frequently, as she loves hanging out in the grass and playing outdoors. She’d do well with a family where someone is home often, as she’s still a young pup who thrives on companionship and structure.
Sequoia is very dog-social and respectful with dogs of all sizes. She’s playful with pups who want to play, and polite with those who don’t. She tends to roll over submissively when meeting larger dogs, which makes her a great match for another friendly, well-balanced dog. While she hasn’t met cats, her gentle and curious nature suggests she could do well with a cat after a slow, supervised introduction.
Her energy level is around a 7/10—she’s playful, curious, and active, but not over the top. She’s not yet going on walks due to her age, but she plays in the yard every couple of hours, and already signals when she needs to go potty. She’s doing well with potty training, having very few accidents, and is quickly learning to whine or paw at the door to go outside.
Sequoia is not crate trained yet, but she sleeps in a crate next to her foster’s bed. She whines a bit before settling, and due to her age, still needs 1–2 bathroom breaks overnight. When left alone for short periods (1–2 hours), she has done very well with free roam in a puppy-proofed space. She may whine briefly but settles quickly and naps.
She is food-motivated and eager to learn. She already offers a “sit” even though she hasn’t learned the cue yet, and she’s beginning to work on “touch” and “leave it.” Like all puppies, she’ll need continued training, consistency, and patience—but her foster reports she’s off to a fantastic start.
Sequoia is a confident, cuddly, and hilarious pup who’s learning quickly and thriving with structure and love. She’ll make an amazing addition to a home that’s ready to help her grow into the incredible dog she’s meant to be.
If you're looking for a social, snuggly, and smart puppy to raise and love, Sequoia might just be your perfect match.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Sequoia’s new family will be required to:
- Ensure she has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
- Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage.
- Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
