Kyle
Kyle’s Story
Kyle/ Male / 1 Year / 95lbs / Mixed Breed /Good with Dogs / Good with Older Kids / Not Tested with Cats / From Manitoba/ Fostered in Scarborough
Meet Kyle! Kyle came into Fetch + Releash as a young puppy after suffering a serious injury to his back leg. Since then, he has shown just how resilient he is, recovering with incredible determination and never letting it dampen his happy, goofy personality. His foster describes him as a big love bug who is happiest when he's close to his people.
This fun-loving boy enjoys puzzle toys, frozen Kongs, backyard adventures, long walks, and, of course, treats—his absolute favourite! Despite his size, he is convinced he's a lap dog and is always ready to curl up beside you for a cuddle or settle in for a nap after a day of fun.
Friendly with both familiar faces and strangers alike, Kyle greets everyone with enthusiasm and is still learning that not every hello needs to include jumping up. He has done well with respectful, dog-savvy children, although his playful puppy-like nature means he'll do best with kids who understand that he's a big, excitable dog.
His ideal home is in the suburbs or countryside where life is a little quieter. While he isn't fearful, busy city environments can be overwhelming for him. A calm, confident resident dog would make a wonderful companion, as he loves spending time with other dogs he knows and benefits from having a canine role model.
When it comes to other dogs, Kyle is social and playful with those he knows, although he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs while on leash. With consistency and continued training, he's making excellent progress. He has not been tested with cats, so a cat-free home is recommended at this time.
With a moderate energy level, he enjoys a nice balance of exercise and enrichment. He is fully house trained, has excellent house manners, and can be trusted with free roam of the home. He knows several basic commands, including sit, shake paw, and wait, and his love of treats makes him eager to continue learning. He is also building confidence when left home alone for longer periods and is making steady progress.
His foster describes him as an incredibly special dog whose resilience, goofy personality, and loving heart make him impossible not to fall in love with. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with plenty of personality, Kyle is ready to find the family he's been waiting for.
Kyle had previous trauma to his left hind stifle joint. The previous trauma had caused the joint to effuse and cause mild osteoarthritis with a lateral luxation of the left patella. Kyle had a TPLO and repair of luxating patella on February 20. Over the past 5 months his foster has been doing routine exercises with him to help him build muscle strength back; these exercise should continue post adoption (reference photos will be provided).
