Kyle

Kyle’s Story

Kyle/ Male / 5 Months / 57lbs / Mixed Breed /Good with Dogs / Good with Older Kids / Not Tested with Cats / From Manitoba/ Fostered in Scarborough

Meet Kyle — a big-hearted, goofball who is equal parts cuddlebug, and adventure buddy. Kyle is still very much a puppy, with all the quirks and charm that come with it. He’s sweet, playful, and incredibly friendly with everyone he meets. Whether it’s a stroll through the neighborhood, a car ride, or a backyard hangout, Kyle is always down for some fun followed by a good cuddle session on the couch.

Kyle lives for connection. He adores his humans and wants to be close to them as much as possible — and we mean close. He thinks he’s a lap dog and will happily plop down for a snuggle session any chance he gets. He’s got that delightful puppy clumsiness and loves to play tug of war with his foster dog sister, chew on toys, and roll around in the backyard. When he’s not goofing around, you’ll find him relaxing on the deck or content with a Kong full of treats.

He hasn’t shown any fearfulness around people, loud noises, or new situations. He’s a curious boy who’s still figuring things out, like how to politely say hello without jumping up or mouthing hands. These are typical puppy behaviors, and his foster has already seen a ton of progress. He’s very treat-motivated, which makes training fun and productive.

Kyle has met children 10+ and, while he may knock into you in his excitement, he’s gentle and eager to please. He would do best in a home with dog-savvy kids who understand puppy energy and boundaries. Kyle’s just a big, happy guy who wants to love on everyone — he might bump you with his big paws or gently mouth your hand, but it’s all puppy love.

He’s doing very well on leash walks so far. No pulling, or reactivity to trucks, strollers, or other city sounds. He gets two good walks a day and enjoys running around the backyard, especially when there’s a toy involved. His energy level is moderate, and he’s happy to chill out with his people once he’s had his playtime.

Kyle is still working on potty training but is making great progress, especially with a consistent routine. He’s just starting to get used to being alone for short periods and is working on crate training. So far, he hasn’t chewed anything inappropriate and hasn’t shown destructive behavior — unless you count enthusiastic toy destruction, of course.

Kyle lives with two resident dogs and would make a great second pup. He loves other dogs and takes cues from them, though sometimes needs reminders to respect their space. He hasn’t been tested with cats.

This sweet, slightly clumsy lovebug has stolen the hearts of his foster family. With a little patience and a lot of love, Kyle is going to grow into the most loyal and lovable companion. He’s goofy, affectionate, and full of potential — truly a gentle giant in the making.

It is important to note that Kyle had previous trauma to his left hind stifle joint. The previous trauma has caused the joint to effuse and cause mild osteoarthritis with a lateral luxation of the left patella. Currently Kyle's stifle is stable and not causing pain for discomfort. If at any point he starts to become lame on his left hind leg a consult with an orthopedic surgeon has been recommended.

As a condition of the adoption contract, Kyle's new family will be required to:

- Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time,
this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
- Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this
stage.
- Neuter within 6 mos of adoption. Kyle's neuter should be scheduled in June 2025. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the
neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
