Sol (Foster-to-Adopt)

Sol’s Story

Sol is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Sol into the Fetch + Releash family on April 14th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, he needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take him home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Sol / Male / 3 years old / 30 lbs / Terrier Mix / From Mexico

Sol is a playful, affectionate little dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. His underbite gives him a hilariously “grumpy” expression, but don’t be fooled. He is truly a teddy bear in dog form who just wants to be close to his people.

Sol came from a small shelter with one of our rescue partners in Mexico. After spending over two years in care without any local adoption interest, he was brought into rescue to help him finally find the loving home he deserves.

He is friendly, adventurous, and enjoys being part of whatever is going on around him. Sol loves human connection and will happily stay close by, whether that’s joining you for an outing or relaxing at home.

Sol does well with female dogs and with similar-sized male dogs. He can be apprehensive with large, dominant males, so a home with compatible canine companions would be ideal. He has not yet been tested with cats. While he has not been formally tested with children, based on his personality, we believe he would do well with dog-savvy children.

He walks well on leash and has a medium energy level, enjoying regular walks and playtime balanced with downtime. Sol is still working on crate training and is not yet house trained, so he will need a patient home committed to helping him learn the basics of living in a home environment.

Prior to coming into care, Sol tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease. The infection is currently dormant, and many dogs live their entire lives without complications. As a precaution, it is recommended that he receive an annual 4DX blood test and a CBC/platelet count prior to any major surgery or dental procedures.

Sol would thrive in a home that understands he has spent most of his life in a shelter and is ready to show him what it means to be part of a family. With patience, consistency, and love, he will settle in and become a loyal, affectionate companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will stick by your side and bring both personality and heart into your home, Sol may be the perfect match.
