Sadie (Foster-To-Adopt)

Sadie’s Story

Sadie is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Sadie into the Fetch + Releash family on the next available flight in July. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Sadie / Female / 2 years old / 24 lbs / Mixed Breed / From Mexico

A hot new bombshell has entered the villa...

Meet Sadie, our little bat-eared sweetheart. This gentle girl was found abandoned at a gas station while pregnant. After giving birth to four puppies, her rescuer discovered her living under a boulder behind the building, curled up with one remaining pup. Despite searching the nearby woods for days, no other puppies were found.

Sadie is the definition of low-key. Her rescuer lovingly describes her as “sloth-like,” and it fits! Her days are full of tail wags, slow-motion snuggles, and an odd (but endearing) love of digging herself a cozy nap hole in the dirt, even when ten dog beds are available.

Sadie is low energy and will need two walks daily as well as some canine enrichment. Having never had a home, her new family should be prepared to support her with potty training, crate training, leash walking, and general manners.

Sadie was briefly tested with cats and showed little interest. While she hasn't been tested with children, based on her gentle nature, we believe she would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children. Her family should be prepared to supervise all interactions to ensure everyone's safety. While she would do well as a solo pup, we think she'd make an excellent second (or third) doggie as well.

Prior to coming into care, Sadie tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, which are tick-borne infections and are not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection. Sadie's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection; however, it is recommended that Ehrlichia/Anaplasma positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work (including a CBC test and platelet count) be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions.
