Oatmeal (Foster-to-Adopt)

Oatmeal’s Story

Oatmeal is available for Foster to Adopt!!

***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***

As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Say hi to Oatmeal! This clever, affectionate, happy go-lucky girl, who would do anything for a hotdog, is looking for her forever family. This sweet girl is medium energy but don’t let that fool you. She loves playing with her toys, chewing on her kongs and trying to solve puzzles. She enjoys her walks, but going on hikes are her favourite. She also loves training! Give her a high value treat and she will be ready for any training session.

Oatmeal is looking for a family that is experienced, patient and caring who is willing to provide her with a secure home. In return she will provide you with endless cuddles. Oatmeal loves to play and is really friendly. On walks she sometimes enjoys stopping with her foster parent to talk to the neighbours. Her new family will need to continue working on her leash etiquette as sometimes she will bark.

Although growing with confidence everyday, Oatmeal is looking for a family who will continue to support and build on this with her. She is still learning to trust her surroundings and can be sensitive to some noises. She is seeking a companion who will provide endless reassurance and guidance for her, especially in new situations. Although Oatmeal has not had interactions with children, given her personality, we believe she could live with those who are older and dog-savvy.

Oatmeal is currently working on housetraining. Using high value treats, she has come a long way but her new family should be prepared for some accidents as she transitions into her new home. Oatmeal has gained a lot of trust in her foster parents when being left home alone. She has shown some signs of counter surfing since she loves food. Oatmeal would love a home with a backyard that would provide her with the freedom to run around and play but she would also be content living in a condo provided she gets her regular walks.

This social girl could do well in a home with another dog who would play with her, respect her and help her to build her confidence. She currently lives with a cat and has no issues. We believe that Oatmeal could do well in most living situations but she’d also be very content being the only pet so she can soak in all her family's love and affection.
