Emma (Foster-to-Adopt)

Emma’s Story

Emma is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Emma into the Fetch + Releash family on March 14th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Emma / Female / 11 months old / 35 lbs / Terrier Mix / From Mexico

Emma is a sweet, gentle young dog who is ready to leave her past behind and find a home of her own. She’s a lovely medium-sized pup with a calm, balanced energy.

Emma was rescued from the same severely overcrowded home as several other dogs, where resources were limited and proper care was difficult to provide. Despite that start, she has remained affectionate, social, and steady.

She has a medium energy level and enjoys activity without being overwhelming. Emma is also a water-loving girl and would likely enjoy a home that includes outdoor adventures and opportunities to splash around. She does very well with other dogs and is comfortable in canine company. She has not yet been tested with cats and is looking for a cat-free home at this time.

Emma tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease. The infection is currently dormant, and many dogs live their entire lives without complications. As a precaution, it is recommended that she receive an annual 4DX blood test and a CBC/platelet count prior to any major surgery or dental procedures.

Emma’s sweet nature makes her easy to be around. With continued structure and positive reinforcement, she will settle beautifully into family life.
