Blaze’s Story

Blaze / Male / 2 Months / 18 lbs / Mixed Breed / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / Good with Cats / From Manitoba / Fostered in Hamilton

Blaze is one of nine pups rescued with their mom from Manitoba after being displaced by wildfires. Their mom, a gentle 40 lb dog, cared for them until a local rescue stepped in to bring them to safety. Now old enough to start his own adventure, Blaze is thriving in foster care and ready to meet his forever family.

Blaze’s foster describes him as loving, playful, gentle, and incredibly easygoing one of the easiest puppies they’ve ever fostered! He’s curious about the world, submissive in nature, and adores attention from people. The moment he meets you, he’ll flop onto his back for belly rubs and soak up all the affection he can get.

He’s already overcoming his puppy fears one by one from crates to vacuums to meeting new friends. Once timid on walks, Blaze is growing braver every day and now enjoys exploring his surroundings. Like most pups, he’s still learning about leashes and will benefit from continued gentle exposure and positive reinforcement.

Blaze loves to run in the yard, chase balls, nap under beds and chairs, and in true puppy fashion -steal slippers whenever he gets the chance. He’s also been working on potty training and crate time. He’s not yet fully house-trained but makes steady progress with consistency. At night, Blaze sleeps quietly under the bed and gets up once or twice for bathroom breaks, settling back down easily.

Blaze has met his foster family’s dog and does very well respectful, friendly, and quick to learn boundaries. He also lives with a cat and, while he finds sharing food a bit frustrating, he’s learning that feline roommates can be managed! With time and patience, he could comfortably live with cats again.

Because Blaze is still a puppy, his perfect family will be one that has time, energy, and patience to guide him through his growth stages. He would thrive in a home where someone is around during the day and can keep up with training, playtime, and plenty of cuddles.

This sweet, gentle boy has such a bright future ahead of him. If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who’s eager to learn and grow by your side, Blaze might just be the one to set your heart on fire!

About YOU!

Puppies are a lot of work. At just 2 months old, we are looking for families with FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes they are tiny and oh-so-cute cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that they will:

- Pee and poop on your floor
- Chew your furniture
- Eat your designer handbag
- Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep in

As a condition of the adoption contract, Blaze’s new family will be required to:

- Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time,
this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
- Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this
stage.
- Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the
spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will
be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
