Laguna (Foster-to-Adopt)
Laguna’s Story
Laguna is available for Foster to Adopt!
We'd love to welcome Laguna into the Fetch + Releash family on January 7, 2026. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.
Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Laguna / Female / 3 years old / 38 lbs / Mixed Breed / From Antigua
Laguna is a gentle, affectionate girl who is ready for a fresh start with a loving family. She was found abandoned under a car on Five Islands, emaciated and trying to forage for food, but despite everything she had been through, she approached easily and allowed herself to be picked up without hesitation. From the very beginning, her sweet and trusting nature shone through.
Described by her caregivers as calm, composed, and non-confrontational, Laguna is wonderfully social with other dogs and greets visitors with friendliness and ease. Her affectionate and playful side comes out once she’s comfortable, and her soft, beautiful coat is just a bonus.
Laguna walks nicely on leash and is continuing to build her skills. She has a medium energy level and would enjoy regular daily walks and relaxed playtime. While she is not crate trained and her house-training status is still a work-in-progress, she settles calmly and takes everything in stride.
Laguna would do well in a home looking for a kind, easygoing companion who gets along well with other dogs and brings a quiet sweetness to everyday life.
Laguna is positive for Ehrlichia and is currently on doxycycline for 30 days after which she will be retested to ensure the disease has gone into a dormant state. Ehrlichia is a common tick-borne disease that can stay in a dog’s bloodstream for many years. Once it has gone into a dormant state there are usually no lingering effects and the dog is expected to live a full and healthy life.
Laguna is ready to leave her past behind for a future filled with care, comfort, and consistency.
