Carmelita’s Story
Carmelita is available for Foster to Adopt!
We'd love to welcome Carmelita into the Fetch + Releash family on March 28th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.
Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Carmelita / Spayed Female / 9 months old / 25 lbs / Terrier Mix / From Mexico
Carmelita is a joyful, lovable puppy who seems determined to enjoy every second of life. Rescued with her siblings from a home where they were left to wander freely, Carmelita survived a difficult start and has grown into a happy, spirited little dog who greets each day like it might be the best one yet.
Described by her caregivers as playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining, Carmelita absolutely loves other dogs and would happily spend hours wrestling, chasing, and zooming around with friends. Built a bit like a baby tank and completely unaware of her own enthusiasm, she gives off strong “drunk baby bear” energy. Watching her discover the world is genuinely a gift.
Carmelita still has her puppy playful energy. She is working on her leash skills and will need continued guidance as she grows. She is not crate trained and her house training is still a work in progress, but she is eager, curious, and learning quickly.
Carmelita was rescued after several of her siblings were tragically struck by cars after wandering into the street. She is currently being treated for giardia and is otherwise healthy.
Carmelita would thrive in a home that embraces puppy chaos and lots of playtime. Human siblings to keep her entertained would be a dream, and a yard for zoomies would be a bonus. That said, she is such a sweet and adaptable little dog that she could do well almost anywhere with people who love her.
