Bru is an incredibly friendly, curious, and affectionate little puppy who loves meeting new people and has never shown fear toward anyone. He’s playful and energetic, with a naturally social personality, and he greets new experiences with enthusiasm. He is growing quickly and is in a healthy, normal puppy stage. He sheds very minimally at this age. Bru’s favourite activities include wrestling and tug-of-war with his brother Cruise, exploring new spaces, running zoomies around the house, and playing with toys like stuffies, ropes, Kongs, and even ice cubes for his teething. He loves to follow his humans from room to room, and one of his cutest habits is sitting politely—complete with huge puppy-dog eyes—when he’s waiting for his meals. He also adores being held and snuggled, and often curls up with his brother to sleep.

Bru isn’t overly fearful of anything and is only mildly unsure about loud sounds like the vacuum, which is completely normal for a young puppy. His ideal family is one that is patient, gentle, and committed to guiding him through all the stages of puppyhood. He’s still learning how to settle, regulate his excitement, and interact calmly, and consistency will help him grow into a well-mannered adult dog. Bru responds beautifully to soft voices and positive reinforcement, and he aims to please. He would do well in a house or townhouse in the suburbs or a quieter rural setting, with or without a yard. He could also live with a resident dog, as long as that dog is patient with a curious, boisterous puppy, and he would be a good match for respectful, dog-savvy children who understand typical puppy behaviours like jumping and teething.

Bru is very friendly and relaxed with familiar people and meets new people with the same excitement and ease. He hasn’t been formally tested with children, but based on his behaviour, he would likely do well with kids who understand how to interact appropriately with puppies. His energy level is high, as expected for his age, and he enjoys short bursts of indoor and outdoor play. Bru has only just received his vaccinations, so he hasn’t started formal leash walking yet, but he is beginning to explore the backyard comfortably. He enjoys indoor enrichment, play sessions, and practicing basic training.

Because he is so young, Bru hasn’t had much experience with car rides, and his leash skills are still unknown. He is not a known flight risk, but like all curious puppies, he should be closely supervised. He is not yet fully potty trained, though he reliably uses pee pads and has just begun transitioning to outdoor pottying. He does not mark in the home. He is only left alone for very short periods and usually settles quickly, especially when his brother is with him. At night, Bru sleeps with Cruise in an open crate inside a playpen and generally sleeps well until early morning.

Around other dogs, Bru is social, playful, and full of confidence. He and his brother roughhouse enthusiastically before settling together for naps. With adult dogs, he can be a bit overwhelming but is respectful with gentle guidance. He has not been tested with cats but would likely do well with slow introductions, as long as the cat is tolerant of puppies. Bru is already learning basic commands such as “sit” and “come,” and he is extremely food motivated, making him eager and easy to train. He is working on bite inhibition, settling after play, and quietness during moments of excitement, all of which are typical developmental stages for an 8-week-old. He has no health concerns, and his fosters describe him as a wonderful puppy who will make his future family very happy.

ABOUT YOU!
Puppies are a lot of work. At just 8 weeks old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes, Bru is tiny and oh-so-cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that he will:
-Pee and poop on your floor
-Chew your furniture
-Eat your designer handbag
-Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep-in

As a condition of the adoption contract, their new families will be required to:
-Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit.
-Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
-Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage.
-Spay/neuter them within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay/neuter is required to finalize the adoption.
