As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Ana / Female / 4 years old / 65 lbs / Mixed Breed / Prefers To Be the Only Dog / No Cats / Likely Good with Older, Dog Savvy Children / Fostered in Mississauga / From Mexico

Meet Ana! Sweet Ana was found by our rescue partners struggling to survive on the streets while battling a severe skin infection. Sadly, people misunderstood her condition and deemed it contagious, leading to her being mistreated and shunned. Eventually, the local pound was called to take her away, but a kind person brought her to the shelter instead.

Ana’s foster describes her as sweet and calm most of the time. She loves going on her walks and does well on a leash. She loves playing with her toys as well as her canine foster sister, however, on walks she is hesitant around dogs she is unfamiliar with. With that said, Ana could be the only dog in the home where she can soak up all the love and attention from her adoptive family. She is super sweet and a lot of fun when her goofy side comes out. She is very comfortable with people she knows, and people she is meeting for the first time, however, she will bark when someone new enters her home.

Ana gets two walks a day and enrichment activities. She walks well on the leash and is comfortable in the car, ready for her next adventure. Ana is potty trained but may need an adjustment period when she moves homes. Ana is learning basic commands, like paw, sit and wait. Her adopter will need to continue basic training.

Ana is not crate-trained and has free roam of the home. She has been left alone for 6 hours with no issues. She is not destructive in the home but she's very interested in food and will investigate anything left out. For her safety, all food needs to be stored out of reach. Ana sleeps through the night in her bed.

Ana’s ideal family would be one that can include her daily activities, whether it be a good walk or a good snuggle. She is flexible and adaptable in her needs, she just needs someone committed to whom she can show her love to.

Ana is a testament to resilience and love. This sweet girl has a heart full of affection and a longing for a forever family. Interacting with humans and her furry companions brings her so much joy. Her moderate energy level makes her an ideal partner for long walks and cozy cuddle sessions. Ana shows her love by following you around, seeking belly rubs and simply enjoying your company.

Ana has shown prey drive toward cats and is looking for a cat-free home at this time. She has not been tested with children but, based on her temperament, we believe she could likely live with older, respectful children who understand doggie etiquette but her size and style of play may be too much for very small kids. Her new family should be prepared to monitor all interactions to ensure everyone's safety. Ana has shown signs of protectiveness towards her foster parents. With that said, Ana will require proper and slow introductions when it comes to welcoming new people into the home as she can get overly excited.
